Camp registration will be done on a first-come first-served basis (determined by the postmark date
on the application package that you mail in) until all the slots are filled. The only exception
to this rule is that the children of camp counselors and staff are accepted first. If there are
more applications than available slots, a waiting list will be kept in case there are cancellations.
The process for applying to camp is straightforward:
- Fill out the application package (all sections must be filled
out completely, and the medical release form must be notarized) -- incomplete applications will be returned.
The form on the second page of the packet is to be signed by your Awana Commander or Director, and is intended
indicate that the camper is on track to finish the required material to meet the eligibility requirements below.
It is perfectly acceptable for the commander/director to sign the form before the material is complete -- there
will be an additional form (provided when the application is accepted) that the commander/director will sign
later to indicate that the material is complete and the camper is eligible.
- Cost for the week of camp is $300 -- $100 must accompany the application as a deposit (the deposit
for each camper must be included as a separate check -- the check will not be deposited until
the camper has been accepted).
- When a camper is accepted to attend camp, a package will be sent that provides the balance that is
due, explains the check-in process at camp, and has other essential information about camp.
- Camp cost is due in full by June 14, 2010 -- applications not paid in full by this time will be
placed on hold, and waiting list applications will be considered. Applications received after June 14
must be accompanied by full payment.
- Mail applications to:
True North Scholarship Camp
c/o Steve Looper
521 Poplar Grove Drive
Vandalia, OH 45377
Scholarships of $150 will be provided to campers who have earned their Citiation award
All campers must meet these minimum requirements by the beginning of camp (July 24, 2010) to be
able to attend:
- Have earned at least an AWANA Excellence award, indicating the completion of two years of
AWANA and/or 24/7 material
- Have completed the current years work in their AWANA or 24/7 program:
- In Journey, this includes the required Main Study,
an Elective study not completed previously, the Bible reading contained in the Main Study,
the service and training requirements, and the "bring-a-friend" requirement -- in short,
everything that must be done to get the Journey Achievement Pin.
- For Trek, both studies in the current year's book must be accomplished,
including the oasis sections.
- T&T clubbers must complete one book in the current club year (or eight discoveries
split across two books).
- Be at least 10 years old for Junior High Camp and at least 13 years old for High School Camp
